A backlash against Gabriel Matzneff, the author who wrote about his sexual encounters with children, suggests France may be finally reckoning with its attitude toward sexual liberation, Karina Piser (France, 2017-2019) writes in an opinion piece for The Washington Post.
“Unlike the Harvey Weinsteins or Jeffrey Epsteins of the world,” she writes, “Matzneff’s actions weren’t just quietly tolerated; they were at the heart of his writing, for which he was lionized.”
