Backed by Iran as well as Russia, the Syrian government has recently moved aggressively toward vulnerable Israeli territory, leaving a veteran Israeli military correspondent convinced that “the Syrian Golan will now almost certainly fall—like a ripe fruit—to the Assad regime.”
