The Times of Israel – In a featured blog post, past Fellow Neri Zilber discusses the grim economic realities of the most recent wave of violence between Israel in Palestine. Many attacks are perpetrated by young Palestinians who defy categorization; they come from a variety of economic, social, and political backgrounds without a unifying leader or affiliation. In order to get to the root of this random violence, Zilber quotes U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who explains, “Right now, you’ve got a lot of young people growing up in the West Bank who don’t have jobs, who…don’t see a future.” To learn more about the Palestinian unemployment crisis and what might be done, read Zilber’s full post at the Times of Israel.
