An important resource for fighting child hunger is set to expire this month, Karina Piser (France, 2017-2019) writes in Mother Jones. The Pandemic-EBT program, which has provided food-insecure families with money to buy groceries since March, will cease operations unless renewed by Congress before September 30.
The program’s closure would deal a blow to millions of children who are longer receiving free lunches at school due to the 19 Covid pandemic, she writes.
