As Americans await the final results of their presidential election, they would do well to learn from Israel’s hard-won experience on surviving uncertainty, former fellow Neri Zilber (Israel, 2011-2013) reports in a series of articles on the election for Foreign Policy.
Israel has held three election campaigns in 15 months and none have gone smoothly. “While Israel’s parliamentary system is more convoluted than the winner-take-all firehose of America’s Electoral College,” he writes, “some tips from the Israeli experience are applicable as the United States—along with the entire world—awaits the winner of Donald Trump versus Joe Biden.”
