Former ICWA fellows Tyrone Turner (Brazil, 1998 – 2000) and Jonathan Guyer (Egypt, 2015 – 2017) have both won Dateline Awards from the Washington DC chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, the organization announced on June 15.

Jonathan won the Magazine Investigative Journalism Award for “The Lucrative Afterlife of a Trump Official,” in The American Prospect about the profitable career of former National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.

Tyrone won multiple awards for his work with WAMU radio including the Radio Feature Photography Award for “Demonstrators Peacefully Protest at the U.S. Capitol.” And he shared the Radio Series Award for “For Black Emergency Doctors in Washington, the Pandemic Is Personal,” the Radio Features Award for “In Virginia, a Family Tragedy Stirs New Life in a Burial Ground for the Enslaved,” and the Radio Photography Story Award for “His Daughter Died of an Opioid Overdose. So He Built a Treatment Facility in Her Name.”
