Russian propaganda and other influence in Central Europe reflects tactics used by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, author Josef Pazederka said during a discussion moderated by ICWA executive director Gregory Feifer at the presentation of the new English translation of his book The Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968: The Russian Perspective. The Delegation of the European Union in Washington hosted the event jointly with the Czech embassy on October 3.

The book is an unprecedented collection of interviews, memoirs and analyses revealing the attitudes of Soviet troops, commanders, officials, dissidents and journalists involved in and affected by the Prague Spring and Warsaw Pact occupation of Czechoslovakia in August 1968. A leading Czech journalist, Pazderka also screened excerpts from his documentary on the topic.
